Railway Recruitment Boards will invite application form for the recruitment of the eligible applicants for various posts of Assistant Loco Pilot & Technicians every year. Interested and Eligible candidates need to submit the application form before the last date as and when its link is available on the official website.

RRB ALP Eligibility Criteria

The applicants can check the eligibility criteria from the table given below. The section is divided into three parts that is Nationality, AGE Limit and Educational Qualification which are as follow:

NationalityThe applicant must be any one of the following: A citizen of India
A subject of Nepal
A subject of Bhutan, and etc
A Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January 1962 to permanently settle down in India
A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam to permanently settle down in India.
AGE LimitThe age of the applicant should be between 18 years to 28 years. There is relaxation in the upper age limit/maximum upper age for different categories.
Educational QualificationCandidate should have completed Matriculation / SSLC plus ITI /Course from recognized institutions of NCVT/SCVT   Candidate should possess a Diploma/Degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Automobile Engineering

RRB ALP Selection Process

The selection process for the post will be conducted in four stages that are as follow:

  • CBT First Stage
  • CBT Second Stage
  • Computer Based Aptitude Test
  • Document Verification/

The candidates need to qualify the CBT First Stage to appear for the next stage of the exam. The candidates need to in CBT First Stage that is clear the cut-off marks of CBT First Stage that is Computer Based Examination, to be eligible for the next stage that is CBT Second Stage. After qualifying both the stages, the applicants need to appear and qualify other stages of the selection process that is Aptitude Test & Document Verification to be considered for the final selection.

CBT First Stage: Computer Based Test

  • Type: Objective, Multiple Choices
  • Duration: 60 Minutes
  • No of Questions: 75
  • Negative Marking: 1/3 marks will be deducted for wrong answers
  • Subjects: Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Science, and General Awareness on Current Affairs

CBT Second Stage: Computer Based Test

The second stage CBT comprises of two stages that are as follow:

Part A:

  • Type: Objective, Multiple Choices
  • Duration: 90 Minutes
  • No of Questions: 100
  • Negative Marking: 1/3 marks will be deducted for wrong answers
  • Subjects: Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, Basic Science and Engineering, and General Awareness on Current Affairs

Part B:

  • Duration: 60 Minutes
  • No of Questions: 75
  • Qualifying Marks: 35%

Computer Based Aptitude Test (Only for candidates who have selected ALP)

After qualifying both the CBT stages, the applicants need to appear in the Computer Based Aptitude Test. To qualify this test, they need to secure a minimum of 42 marks in each of the test batteries. The medium of the test will be only in English and Hindi. There will be no negative marking in this test.

Document Verification

After qualifying all the stages mentioned above, the candidate need to appear and qualify the fourth stage that is Document Verification to be considered for the final selection of the post. The applicants need to carry the follow documents for the document verification process:

  • 10th Mark sheet & Certificate
  • 12th Mark sheet & Certificate
  • Aadhaar Card
  • Caste Certificate (If have any)
  • NCVT / SCVT/ Diploma / Engineering Degree Certificate with Semester wise Mark Sheets (As applicable)
  • Income Certificate for Waiving Examination Fee for Economically Backward Classes
  • Original discharge certificate for Ex-serviceman
