CTET Eligibility Criteria: AGE
There are no Age Criteria mentioned to apply for the exam as per the official notification of the CTET 2023.
CTET Eligibility Criteria: Educational
The CTET Educational Eligibility Criteria for the primary teachers (Classes I to V) and elementary (Classes VI to VIII) are given below separately:
CTET Primary Stage Teacher (Classes I-V)
In order to fulfill the CTET Eligibility Criteria, the applicants who are willing to be a Primary Stage Teacher must meet any one of the criteria given below:
The applicant should have passed Senior Secondary (or it’s equivalent) with at least 50% marks and he/she must have passed or appearing in the final year of two-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
OR
The applicant should have passed Senior Secondary (or it’s equivalent) with a minimum of 45% marks and he/she must have passed/appearing in the final year of two-year Diploma in Elementary in accordance with the NCTE Rules & Regulations.
OR
The applicant should have passed Senior Secondary (or it’s equivalent) with at least 50% marks and he/she must have passed/appearing in the final year of four years Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.EI.ED)
OR
The applicant should have passed Senior Secondary (or it’s equivalent) with a minimum of 50% marks and he/she must have passed /appearing in the final year of two-year Diploma in Education (Special Education)
OR
The applicant should have graduated with at least 50% marks and holds a Bachelor of Education (B.ED) Degree.
Important Instruction: In order to be a Primary teacher in classes I to V, the applicant who holds the Bachelor of Education from any NCTE recognized institution need to mandatorily undergo a six month Bridge Course in Elementary Education recognized by the NCTE, within the two years of the appointment as a primary teacher.
CTET Elementary Stage Teacher (Classes VI to VIII):
In order to fulfill the CTET Eligibility Criteria, the applicants who are willing to be an Elementary Stage Teacher must meet any one of the criteria given below:
The applicant should have completed the Graduation and he/she must have passed/appearing in the final year of two-year Diploma in Elementary Education
OR
The applicant should have completed the Graduation with a minimum of 50% marks and he/she must have passed/ appearing in one year Bachelor in Education (B.ED) Degree.
OR
The applicant should have completed the Graduation with a minimum of 45% marks and he/she must have passed/appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.ED), in accordance with the NCTE Rules & Regulations.
OR
The applicant should have completed the Senior Secondary (or it’s equivalent) with a minimum of 50% marks and he/she must have passed/appearing in the final year of four years Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.EI.ED)
OR
The applicant should have completed the Senior Secondary (or it’s equivalent) with at least 50% marks and he/she must have passed/appearing in the final year of four years of B.A/B.SC.ED or B.A.ED/B.SC.ED.
OR
The applicant should have completed the Graduation with a minimum of 50% marks and he/she must be passed/ appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education)

CTET Eligibility Criteria: Reservation & Rules

- The applicants who belong to reserved categories, such as SC/ST/OBC/Differently-abled will get the relaxation up to 5% in the qualifying marks in the minimum Educational Eligibility Criteria.
- A Diploma/Degree course in teacher education should be recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education.
- A Diploma in Education (Special Education) and B.ED (Special Education) course should be recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India.
- The applicant with D.ED (Special Education) needs to undergo, after appointment, an NCTE recognized 6-month Special Program in Elementary Education.
- The applicant who is pursuing a teacher education courses as per the rules & regulations of NCTE or the RCI shall be eligible for appearing in the CTET.
