TNEA Counselling: Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE) Chennai will conduct the TNEA Counselling and Seat Allotment Process online through the official website. Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions 2020 (TNEA 2020) is a completely online process and will be conducted in four rounds. TNEA Counselling Process comprises of Registration, Payments, Choice Filling, Allotment and Confirmation. The candidates will be called for the counselling process on the basis of the TNEA Merit list prepared by the authority, The TNEA Seat Allotment Result will be declared after each round of the counselling process. TNEA Counselling Process 2020
You can check the steps to apply for the counseling process from the points given below:
Step 1: Registration
- Visit the official website available in the article
- Now select “Click here for New Registration”
- Then enter your Name, Mobile No, E-mail, Date of Birth, Qualifying exam, and click on ‘Save” button
- Now login with your Email-Id and Password
- Then fill the required details in the TNEA Counselling Form
- Preview the application form and click on submit
Step 2: Payment of Fee
In the next step, after completing the registration process the applicants need to make the fee payment through Net Banking/Credit Card/ Debit Card/ Demand Draft as per their category. You can check the fee details from the table given below:

Step 3: Random Number Allotment
The registered applicants will be allotted a 10 digit random number. The main reason behind the allotment of a random number if there is a tie even after applying all the tie-breaking rules and regulation, then this 10 digits random number can help in breaking the deadlock between the candidates.
Step 4: Certificate Verification
After the completion of the registration process and payment of fee, the next stage will be Certificate Verification. The candidates need to log in with their correct details and will be required to upload the required certificates. All the registered candidates need to upload the following documents given below in the list
1. Photo and Signature of the Candidates
2. Mandatory Documents:
- 10th Mark sheet
- 11th Mark sheet (For Tamil Nadu State Board students)
- 12th Mark sheet
- Community Certificate (Except OC candidates)
3. Optional/Additional Certificates
- Transfer Certificate (optional)
- Nativity Certificate (If Native Tamil Nadu candidates have studied in other state in any one of the classes from 8th Std to 12th Std)
- Parents occupation Certificate (Other state candidate whose parent is a Central/State Govt employee in Tamil Nadu for the past five years)
- Srilankan Refugee Certificate (For Srilankan refugees)
- Ex-servicemen certificate (Candidates who opted for Special Reservation – Exservicemen)
- Differently Abled certificate (Candidates who opted for Special Reservation –Differently Abled)
Step 5: Publication of the Rank List:
After the submission of the application form and the certificate verification process, the authority will publish the merit list or rank of the candidate based on the marks secured by them in their 12th Board exam. Candidates can check the merit list by visiting the official website of TNEA.
Step 6: Choice filling & Locking
After the declaration of the merit list prepared by the authority, the candidates will be called for the final round of counselling. The counselling process will be conducted in four to five rounds. In the counselling process, the candidate needs to pay Rs 5000 (1000 in case of SC/ST) for college admission. After completing the payment process, the candidates will be required to log in via their correct credentials and must lock their choices and their college preference.
Step 7: TNEA Seat Allotment Process
The first round of seat allotment will be released by the authority on the basis of the rank and choice filled by the candidates. The candidates need to login to their account on the official website to check the seat allotment result. After the declaration of the seat allotment result, the candidates will have the option of either accepting or rejecting the seat. After the candidates confirm or accept the seat, they will be required to report to the respective colleges/Institutes at the specified date.
