Yamuna River
It forms the eastern border of the state. It enters near Kalesar Forest (Yamuna Nagar). It flows due south along the district and of Yamunanagar, Karnal, Panipat, Sonipat, Faridabad, and exit from Haryana near Hasanpur in Palwal district (320 Km). At Tajewala Barrage (YMN), the water of the river is diverted to Western Yamuna Canal (WYC) for irrigation. (Hathini Kund, Tourist spot)
Saraswati River
This Vedic river believed to have drained the north and northwest regions of India, including Haryana and Punjab in ancient times. An ancient site in Kunal and Banwali (Fatehabad) has been found on the banks of the dried river bed of Saraswati. It followed parallel to the river Yamuna for some distance and later joined it.
Ghaggar River
As of today, a part of the river exists as Ghaggar in Haryana, the rest of it has disappeared in the fringes of the desert of Rajasthan. The river enters Haryana near Pinjore, after passing through Ambala, Kaithal, Fatehabad, and Sirsa, it reaches Bikaner and runs a course of 290 miles before finally disappearing in desert Rajasthan.
Markanda River (seasonal stream)
Its ancient name was Aruna. It originates from the lower Shivalik and enters Haryana near Ambala. During monsoons, this stream swells up into a raging torrent, which is notorious for its devastating power. It is the tributary of Ghaggar. Surplus water carried onto Lake.
Tangri/Dangri River
Originates from Shivalik hills, flows mostly in Panchkula, Ambala districts.
Sahibi River
It originates in Mewat Hills. It enters Haryana at Jhabua, near Rewari district. This river re-enters Haryana at Jarthal (Rewari).
Dohan River
Originates from Aravali range and flows towards North-East. It also flows to the Rewari district.
Krishnawati or Kasauti River
Minor stream originating in the hills of Aravali. It flows in southern direction to join Sahibi. Total length 77 Km. it only flows in Mohendragarh dist. Other rivers, Indori river- Originates in Mewat Hills (198 Km)
