The National Testing Agency (NTA) will release the notification about NET JRF soon on the official website. The award of NET JRF (Junior Research Fellowship) is provided to the candidates who have qualified both the papers of UGC-NET. They will become eligible to receive UGC fellowship under various schemes in Indian Universities and Colleges. Earlier, CBSE conducted NET JRF, but from Dec 2018, it is now conducted twice a year by NTA on the behalf of UGC. Earlier UGC NET was scheduled to be conducted from 15th June to 20th June 2020, but then it was postponed till further notice.
Candidates who qualify the award of NET JRF will become eligible to receive UGC fellowship under various schemes in Indian Universities and Colleges. The validity period will be three years from the date of the issue of the JRF Award Letter. As per the available notification, the date of commencement of Fellowship for the candidates who have already joined M. Phil. / Ph.D. will be from the date of the issue of NET result or date of their joining the fellowship.

NET JRF: Nature of Assistance
Initially, the tenure of fellowship will be for two years under the JRF scheme. After the expiry of the tenure, the fellowship work will be evaluated by experts. If the experts find the research work satisfactory then their tenure will be extended up to three years under the increased emoluments of the Senior Research Fellow (SRF)
In case if the assigned work for the initial two years is unsatisfactory, then an additional year will be provided for the improvement. In this tenure, the designation will be of Junior Research Fellow. The evaluation of work will be performed after three years, and even after that if no improvement is found, the Fellow will get an additional two more years under the SRF. The total tenure of fellowship (JRF and SRF) is five years and there will be no further extension after that.

NET JRF: Eligibility Criteria

- The upper age limit of the applicant should be 30 years as on 01.06.2020.
- The relaxation of up to 5 years is applicable for the applicants who belong to OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PWD/Women/Transgender
- The candidates who have qualified the NET-JRF will be eligible for admission in M. Phil. / PhD.
- The applicants secured a minimum of 55% marks in Master’s Degree or equivalent exam from universities/institutions recognized by UGC. The relaxation of up to 5% marks is applicable for the applicants who belong to OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PWD/Women/Transgender.

UGC-NET June 2020: Quick Summary with the latest update
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has entrusted the responsibility of conducting UGC-NET to National Testing Agency (NTA). The National Testing Agency has invited application form for ‘Assistant Professor’ and ‘Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor’ in Indian universities and colleges from 16th March 2020. UGC-NET is Computer Based test with multiple-choice questions.
